Jones visited with the Cardinals just three days ago.
Jones originally spent four seasons (2013-16) at East Carolina before being a second-round (37th overall) pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. The Texas native played two full seasons (2017-18) with the Bills until he was traded in 2019 to the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders in exchange for a 2021 fifth-round pick.
When he was a free agent in 2022, Jones inked a three-year, $24 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But with just one year left on the deal, Jacksonville released the 29-year-old last Tuesday.
So far in the NFL, Jones has played 104 games (67 starts), collecting 287 receptions for 3,028 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns. Last year, he suited up for nine games (seven starts) and accumulated 321 receiving yards from 34 catches and two touchdowns for the Jaguars.
With OTAs beginning in 10 days, the Cardinals will head into them with a ton of wide receivers following the departure of Marquise Brown to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency and trade of Rondale Moore to the Atlanta Falcons.
The top wide receivers next to Murray include No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr., second-year wideout Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch and Zach Pascal. The Cardinals also added one other receiver in the draft in UAB product Tejhaun Palmer, who was drafted 191st overall.
While all of those players are capable receivers, it was obvious some more depth was needed
Kyler Murray has some really good talent around him heading into 2024:
• Marvin Harrison Jr.

• Greg Dortch
• Zach Pascal
• Trey McBride
• Tip Reiman
• James Conner
• Trey Benson https://t.co/YylC1oszu0— Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) May 10, 2024
Now, the Cardinals have added that going into OTAs.
