Brisbane announced as host of 2032 Olympics as Games return to Australia

Brisbane has officially been announced as host of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Australian city and the surrounding South-East Queensland region were approved as the Games hosts at an International Olympic Committee meeting in Tokyo on Wednesday.

The Olympics are set to run from July 23 through Aug. 8, with the Paralympic Games taking place between Aug. 24 and Sept. 5 across 37 venues.

The 2032 Games will be Brisbane's first. However, Australia has previously hosted two Olympic tournaments, Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.

Brisbane and the surrounding area is also set to host several events leading up to the 2032 Olympics, including the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
